I have set out below some further useful links which I have come across during this rather hectic and difficult week.
Here is the link to the Government furlough guidance. The scheme is known as the Corvid Job Retention Scheme. The scheme is self-explanatory.
It is worth noting that employment law has not been suspended so please be aware that any changes need to be agreed and any proposal involving 20 or more employees may engage S 188 Trade Union and Labour Relations (Consolidation) Act 1992.
Last week I was advising using a standard lay off/short term working clause but I am now advising a specific furlough clause should be utilised.
The SSP regulations have not yet been made however the power has been granted under S 39 – 41 Coronavirus Act 2020.
I have found some confusion over so called shielding. Self-isolation is not the same as shielding. So at the time of writing those who are shielding do not qualify for SSP.
There is also now a regulation covering health protection & enforcement which sets out at Schedule 2 which businesses must close and which can stay open.
