Practice Overview
Before joining Chambers, Poppy worked in-house at Local Authorities in Hampshire and Berkshire for seven years, including during pupillage, developing knowledge and expertise in public children law proceedings. During this time, Poppy developed client care, case management/preparation and drafting skills, including regularly drafting case summaries, thresholds, schedules of findings, position statements and statements of facts.
For the last four of those years, Poppy has regularly undertaken advocacy on behalf of the Local Authorities at levels up to and including the High Court, at all stages of proceedings ranging from EPOs to contested Final Hearings. Poppy has extensive experience in dealing with complex matters including those that involve sexual abuse, non-accidental injuries, secure accommodation, and international elements, as well as working with vulnerable individuals. Poppy takes a particular interest in deprivation of liberty matters including those that overlap into the Court of Protection. Poppy is known for her calm, empathetic and considered approach alongside her meticulous preparation and attention to detail.
Outside of work, Poppy is interested in reading, watching films, going to gigs and spending time with her cat. Poppy is also an avid sports fan; regularly travelling to different countries to watch her teams play, no matter the result.
