Katrina is a sought after and highly regarded Children’s Family Practitioner who specializes in both public and private work.
Katrina is a tenacious advocate who is meticulously prepared both in and out of Court and maintains close communication with instructing Solicitors.
Katrina has extensive experience in Public law proceedings having worked in house for a Local Authority for over 16 years and regularly represents Local Authorities, Parents, Grandparents, Interveners and Children’s Guardians.

Public Law
Katrina is regularly instructed by Local Authorities, Parents, Grandparents and Guardians in cases involving substance misuse, neglect, cognitive difficulties, capacity issues, sexual abuse, FGM and non-accidental injuries.
Katrina is experienced at dealing with cases involving long term foster care, adoption, special guardianship, residential placements, secure units, recovery orders and contested appeals and contested adoptions

Noteworthy Cases include:
SCC v TB- This case involved a challenge by the Paternal Aunt and Uncle to the LA’s application for Placement Orders for 2 young children, one of whom they had a limited relationship with.
The LA, supported by the CG sought the making of Care and Placement Orders on the basis of a negative kinship assessment. This was vigorously challenged by the Aunt and Uncle. During the proceedings the CG changed her view and cautiously supported the Aunt and Uncle. The LA did not. The Court rejected the LA’s application and made a SGO in favour of the Aunt and Uncle.
Swindon CC v C-This case involved an application by the LA for a SGO in favour of the Maternal Grandmother. The Grandmother supported the LA as did the Mother. The CG did not and favoured a plan for Adoption. The matter progressed to a fully contested hearing at which the LA were successful and a SGO was made to the MGM.
Private Law Children
Katrina is briefed on all aspects of private children law proceedings.
These include non-molestation injunctions, domestic and sexual abuse allegations, parental alienation, intractable contact disputes, internal and international relocation issues.
Katrina is known for her friendly, calm, honest approach and ability to put the client at ease in often highly emotive situations; whilst at the same time maintaining a professional tenacity towards her opponent, with a view to achieving the best outcome for her clients.

Katrina has a growing interest in Court of Protection work and has represented Local Authority’s in DOLS applications.
