Sarah Earley appeared on behalf of the child through his Guardian. The Court of Appeal considered a case of implacable hostility to contact by the child and the mother. The Judge at first instance had made an order for no direct contact despite finding that the father posed no risk to the child. The father appealed. The appeal court considered the approach to be taken in implacable hostility cases, emphasising the responsibility of the parent with care to meet the needs of the child for contact, but found that there was no other way forward than the approach taken by the first instance judge in this case. The Court of Appeal described this as a tragic outcome to the case but dismissed the appeal.
